Indra has become the world’s sustainability leader in the Software and Services technology sector after achieving the best global score in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) World.
Indra is the only company in the sector that has managed to remain for 16 consecutive years in this global sustainability benchmark index to which more and more companies around the world aspire and which is renewed every year incorporating new and more demanding requirements.
The company has improved its overall score, achieving a very significant rise in the assessment of its environmental management policies and systems, an area in which it has made important commitments in recent years, such as the UN climate change targets to reduce its energy consumption emissions by 50% by 2030 and to be totally carbon neutral by 2050. Indra has also significantly improved its score in risk management and tax strategy.
The company leads its sector in the social and good governance dimensions and has obtained the highest possible score (100th percentile) in seven criteria: innovation management, privacy protection, social and environmental reporting, labour practices, institutional relations and tax strategy.
A total of 2,544 companies applied to join the DJSI World in 2021, of which only 322 made it into the index. In the case of the technology sector, only 10 companies out of the 71 that form part of the eligible universe belong to the index and in the case of the 21 Spanish companies in the eligible universe, 15 are finally part of the index.
