The Instituto Francés of Madrid continues with its LesGaiCineMad festival, and this evening at 8 p.m. screens the Australian film My First Summer, by Katie Found, starring Markella Kavenagh, Kaska Zielinski and Edwina Wren. Screening in original version with Spanish subtitles.
Claudia, a 16-year-old girl, has grown up isolated from the outside world. Lost after the death of her mother, she is surprised when Grace, an energetic local teenager, appears in the garden like a mirage, a breath of fresh air. Between them they find the support, love and intimacy they need, and teach each other the restorative power of human connection. But their idyllic peace is fragile as the adult world closes in and threatens their secret summer love. Tickets can be purchased at this link.
