From today until the 11th of November, the Fundación San Millán de la Cogolla celebrates the 11th Sephardic Conference in La Rioja in the town of San Millán de la Cogolla.
The San Millán de la Cogolla Foundation could not deal with the Spanish language and, therefore, with its historical development, without taking into account the Sephardic culture. And this has been the case ever since it was set up. The Sephardic world is represented on the board of trustees of this institution and one of the most outstanding researchers in this field, Elena Romero, is on the scientific council of Cilengua. But this presence is not purely testimonial. The Foundation has wanted to inform the scientific community in particular, and all those interested in general, about the history and literary creation of the Sephardic world. This is mainly carried out through the celebration of a congress activity: the so-called Sephardic Conferences in La Rioja, which, on this occasion, are now in their eleventh edition (they are held every two years).
The Conference will be held at the headquarters of the Cilengua in San Millán de la Cogolla, in a face-to-face and virtual format. This eleventh Sephardic Conference in La Rioja will be dedicated to the festival of Pesah (the Jewish Passover) and the rites, traditions, customs and music that have characterised its celebration among the Sephardim. Admission is free, but there is transport every day and lunch on the 9th and 10th of November for a fee of 30 euros. In all cases it is necessary to register in advance here.
