Author: Enrique Ojeda.
On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the negotiations to put an end to apartheid in South Africa, last Friday Casa África presented the book South Africa and the road to freedom, written by Enrique Ojeda (director general of Casa América) and published in the Casa África Essay Collection in collaboration with the publishing house Los Libros de la Catarata.
The presentation ceremony was attended by Juan Espadas Cejas, Mayor of Seville; José Segura Clavell, Director General of Casa África; Sami Naïr, French-Algerian philosopher and political scientist, author of the prologue to the work, and Enrique Ojeda Vila, diplomat and author of the book.
In South Africa and the Road to Freedom, from Apartheid to Democracy, the book traces South Africa’s historical process, from the birth of the racist Republic to its final defeat. A process that marked the entire African continent and impressed millions of people around the world, both because of the aberrant characteristics of the system that was being left behind, which discriminated against its own citizens because of the colour of their skin, and because of the personality of the main leader of the struggle against it, Nelson Mandela.
