Gender Roles. Construction of Identities is Casa América’s own programme within the framework of the Festival de Cine por Mujeres (Women’s Film Festival), from tomorrow until the 6th of November, with the aim of contributing to the dissemination of cinema with a woman’s stamp and the visibility of the great potential of women filmmakers in Ibero-America.
Tomorrow at 7 p.m. there will be a talk by Paula Hernández, director and screenwriter, followed by the screening of Las siamesas (pictured), directed by Paula Hernández. Argentina, 2020. On Thursday 4 November at the same time, a talk on the work of Sara Gómez will be given by María Luisa Ortega, researcher and lecturer in Audiovisual Communication at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, followed the next day by the screening of De cierta manera, directed by Sara Gómez. Cuba, 1974. Finally, on Saturday, 6 November, at 7 p.m., there will be a dialogue with Ángeles Cruz, actress and filmmaker, about the creative processes in her artistic career, followed by the screening of the film Nudo mixteco.
