On 30 October, the Ministry of Culture of Taiwan and the Economic and Cultural Office of Taipei in Spain, in collaboration with the Museum of Contemporary Art of Genalguacil (Málaga), present the exhibition Doubling Ecologies, a duo exhibition by the artists Wan-Jen Chen (Taiwan) and Juan Zamora (Spain), curated by Blanca de la Torre, until 20 December at the museum in Málaga.
The exhibition was presented in Taiwan in 2020 and stems from the friendship that has developed between the two artists since they met at an artists’ residency in New York. From that moment on, they have established a joint collaboration that has led them to present the project in Taipei and now in Genalguacil. Doubling Ecologies is a proposal made up of two interrelated solo exhibitions: Edge Selection, by the artist Wan-Jen Chen, and The Emergence of Life, by Juan Zamora. The two exhibitions are united by the Greek symbol of the Ouroboros, a sign that represents the beginning and the end, the cycle of life, destruction for change, renewal and regeneration. A symbol that points here to the need for a paradigm shift, and which serves as a nexus to group together the themes addressed in the exhibition, centred on the role we play as part of the ecosystem.
