Some 100,000 Spanish companies export to the Latin American region, accounting for a third of the total investment stock in Latin America and the Caribbean, according to the Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism, Reyes Maroto.

Maroto, who took part in the fourth Ibero-American Mimype Forum, said that these figures support the Government’s determination to continue promoting the signing of free trade agreements between the European Union and Latin America and the Caribbean. In this regard, she highlighted the modernisation of the Free Trade Agreement between Mexico and the European Union.

The minister also stressed the importance of multilateralism in the region and the role of the Spanish economy in the global recovery.

Reyes Maroto reiterated the Government’s commitment to SMEs, especially in an economic context of growth, but with “great uncertainties” arising from the increase in energy and raw material prices.
