The King and Queen of Spain will make a state trip to the Kingdom of Sweden on November 23-25, as announced by The Diplomat.

As informed yesterday by the Directorate General of Communication, Public Diplomacy and Networks, the trip of Philip VI and Letizia responds to the invitation of the King of Sweden, Carl XVI Gustaf. The King and Queen will be accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares.

Sweden has recently resumed international visits and has already received the President of Germany. Now, Carl Gustaf and Silvia are preparing to receive the King and Queen of Spain, in a visit that will include official lunches, joint events and other activities usual in this type of visits, according to reliable sources informed The Diplomat.

Albares was in Sweden last October 13 to participate in the Malmö Forum against anti-Semitism. On that occasion, the minister was received by his Swedish counterpart, Ann Linde, with whom he had “a long talk about the work in the OSCE, future cooperation with the Equality Generation and our upcoming EU presidencies,” according to the head of Swedish diplomacy in her Twitter account.

Both the trip of the King and Queen and the recent presence of the minister in Malmö coincide with a moment of intensified contacts between Sweden and Spain, the two countries that will hold the rotating presidency of the EU throughout 2023, the Nordic country in the first semester and our country in the second. On September 27, the Minister of Foreign Affairs received the Swedish Minister for European Union Affairs, Hans Dahlgren, at the Palacio de Viana in Madrid, to coordinate the priorities of the two countries in view of both presidencies.
