Casa Mediterráneo carried out, within the framework of its environmental objectives, a Direct Action Programme of conservation and cleaning in the Mediterranean. The selected location was the marine reserve of the island of Nueva Tabarca, where almost a hundred volunteers, together with a group of divers from various institutions and diving clubs, participated on Sunday morning in a rubbish collection of the coves and seabed of the Alicante islet in order to preserve this natural space after the summer season.
The day also included informative talks given to participants and visitors about the importance of caring for, conserving and recycling in natural areas and marine ecosystems.
The second part of the programme includes a conference on 28 October in the series “Environment and the Mediterranean” at the headquarters of the diplomatic institution. During the conference, the effects of the work carried out to make civil society aware of the important role it plays through its actions in the conservation of natural environments will be presented.
The conference was organised by HEMPEL, the Océano school and La Sal Diving Center of Alicante, and also counted with the sponsorship and participation of Casa Mediterráneo and the collaboration of institutions such as the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, the Subdelegation of Defence in Alicante, the Maritime Service of the Civil Guard of Alicante, the Spanish Navy, the National Police, the Local Police of Alicante and Firefighters of Alicante, among other collaborators.
