The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, visited Indra’s headquarters yesterday, where he praised the Spanish technology company’s ability to raise European funds and showed confidence in its growth. Sánchez was accompanied by the Prime Minister of Belgium, Alexander De Croo, who was visiting Spain.

The chief of the Executive also highlighted the company’s ability to become a global industrial player thanks to its “solid foundations”. For this, the company considers its commitment to innovation and the creation of high quality employment to be key.

The company received the National Innovation Award in 2020 and has led numerous national and European R&D&I initiatives.

Indra expects to hire 3,000 new technology professionals in Spain throughout 2021 after becoming the gateway to the labour market for more than 7,000 young people in the three years prior to the pandemic.

Accompanied by the company’s chairman, Marc Murtra, and CEOs, Cristina Ruiz and Ignacio Mataix, the two leaders visited some of the company’s most cutting-edge technological systems in Air Traffic, Defence, Security, Digital Transformation and Smart Cities.

In air traffic, Indra has recently become the company in charge of digitalising the management of Eurocontrol’s network, the European Union’s air traffic manager.

Furthermore, 85% of flights worldwide are managed at some point by Indra’s technology, which in turn has made possible more than 100 million safe landings in almost 1,400 airports.

Indra’s officials detailed the developments of the company’s Defence and Security technological systems (radars, electronic defence, command and control, among others), which make Indra the only Spanish company among the world’s top 100 defence companies.

Sánchez and De Croo also contemplated several of Minsait’s digital solutions, including its payment service, its cloud services, as well as its commitment to cybersecurity.

The Indra group company is in charge of a project in the Belgian city of Antwerp that involves the design and development of the city’s intelligent management platform, which aroused the interest of the country’s prime minister.

Minsait also occupies a leading position in the testing of the new European smart border system promoted by eu-LISA.
