As part of the celebration of Cuba’s National Culture Day, the concert pianist Iliana Morales will offer a piano recital tomorrow at 7 p.m. in the Gabriela Mistral Amphitheatre of Casa América, featuring works from her album Elegía para un sueño, as well as well-known pieces by Ignacio Cervantes and Ernesto Lecuona, outstanding composers of Cuban culture. Free admission until full capacity is reached.
The format of the event will alternate with brief explanatory speeches by professors Victoria Eli Rodríguez and Juan Ángel Vela del Campo, both of whom have extensive experience as music critics. The concert will be attended by Ambassador Eumelio Caballero Rodriguez, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Republic of Cuba in Spain. Enrique Ojeda, General Director of Casa de América will welcome the audience, and the first movement of the Sonata No 2 op 35, by Frédéric Chopin and Scenas Infantiles op 15, by Robert Schumann, will be performed, together with the pieces mentioned above.
