The former Director of Programming of Casa de América, Rebeca Guinea, has been appointed Director of the Cabinet of the Secretary of State for International Cooperation, Pilar Cancela.

Rebeca Guinea has held her new position since September 20, according to the Order published  on Friday in the Official State Gazette and signed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares. Apart from her functions in Casa de América, Guinea was previously assigned to the Spanish Embassies in Yemen and Ghana.

Guinea replaces Xavier Martí, who held the post between June 2020 (in place of Guzmán Palacios, Chief of Staff under the two previous Secretaries of State for International Cooperation, Ángeles Moreno and Juan Pablo de Laiglesia) and July 2021, when he was appointed Director General for Ibero-America and the Caribbean.
