Cuba’s ambassador to Spain, Gustavo Machín, ended his stay in our country last summer and returned to Havana.

Machín, who arrived in Madrid at the end of 2017, was one of the main people responsible for negotiating the resumption of relations between the island and the United States during the Obama Administration.

During his stay in Spain, one of his main tasks was to prepare for the visit to Cuba by the King and Queen of Spain in November 2019.

Until the appointment of a new ambassador to Spain, the Cuban government has sent Eumelio Caballero, a veteran diplomat who has been Cuba’s ambassador to France, Algeria and Qatar, as well as deputy foreign minister, to the embassy in Madrid as Chargé d’Affaires.
