On Monday, an event was held at the Embassy of Azerbaijan on the Day of Commemoration of the memory of Azerbaijani heroes who gave their lives during the Homeland War.
In his speech, Azerbaijani Ambassador Ramiz Hasanov stressed that “as a result of the 44-day Homeland War, from 27 September to 8 November last year, the 30-year Armenian aggression was ended and the relevant UN Security Council Resolutions of 1993 were implemented”.
Reporting on Armenia’s crimes and illegal activity in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan, Ramiz Hasanov has drawn attention “to the massive deployment of tanks and anti-personnel mines in our territories, deliberate destruction and misappropriation of Azerbaijan’s historical-cultural and religious heritage, plundering of natural resources and acts of vandalism perpetrated in our cities. In accordance with the Trilateral Declaration of 10 November, the Government of Azerbaijan is taking consistent large-scale measures to ensure lasting peace, security and prosperity in the region.”
Ambassador Turkey, Burak Akçapar, took the floor and stressed that “Armenia, which occupied Azerbaijani territories for 30 years, on 27 September last year, violating the ceasefire, attacked civilians in Azerbaijan and as a result of the counter-offensive operations in the framework of the legitimate right of self-defence, the territorial integrity of the brotherly country was restored. Noting that Turkey has always supported the brotherly country Azerbaijan, the Turkish ambassador stressed that “Azerbaijan’s joy is our joy, its pain is our pain, its freedom is our freedom…”.
The event was also attended by the ambassadors of Pakistan and Georgia, Miguel Álvarez de Eulate, Director of the Spanish Foundation for International and Strategic Studies (FESEI); Enrique Gaspar, Secretary General of the Seda España Institute.
