The Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, held yesterday a working lunch with a large representation of Spanish businessmen, before whom he expressed the Government’s commitment to economic diplomacy.
Spanish companies are “fundamental actors of the Spanish foreign action” and must also be the “engines of recovery”, said Albares during the meeting, held at the ministerial headquarters of the Palacio de Viana, in Madrid, and which brought together about twenty representatives of the main Spanish companies and business organizations that encompass most of the sectors of the country’s economy.
“Your contribution, as companies with a solid international presence, is fundamental as an engine of innovation and job creation,” the minister stressed. “You are a reflection of the values of our society: commitment to sustainability, technological innovation, excellence and leadership,” he continued.
According to the minister, the economic recovery after the pandemic is being made possible thanks to vaccination and the Recovery and Resilience Plan, with which “we not only want to recover, we want to renew our economy.” “We are counting on you to ensure that the recovery is fair and leaves no one behind,” he continued.
Likewise, Albares assured that among the priorities of his mandate are Spanish economic interests and economic diplomacy “as another instrument at the service of Spain’s economic growth and prosperity”. An example of this commitment of his Department, he affirmed, is his decision to place the Directorate General of Economic Diplomacy under his direct responsibility.
