On 27 September, the German Embassy and the Instituto Goethe in Madrid are organising a round table discussion entitled Goodbye Angela Merkel, what next, which will be broadcast in Spanish on the RTVE website.

Who or who will manage Angela Merkel’s legacy? Will there be a change of course? Will the new government accelerate the ecological transition and decarbonisation in Germany and, therefore, in Europe? Will the new German government maintain the flexibility in the interpretation of the Stability Pact caused by the pandemic? What will relations with Russia and China be like in the coming years? Ana Carbajosa, former correspondent for El País in Berlin and author of the book Angela Merkel, chronicle of an era; Marc Dugge, former correspondent and former head of the ARD studio in Madrid, and Wolfgang Dold, ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Spain, will take part in the event. The debate will be moderated by Aurora Mínguez, former RTVE correspondent for Germany and Central Europe and European analyst.
