The Diplomat
His Majesty the King plans to resume receiving Letters of Credence from foreign ambassadors accredited to Spain on 4 October, The Diplomat has learnt from reliable sources.
The last reception of Letters of Credence took place five months ago, on 26 April, when the diplomatic representatives of Hungary, Colombia, Thailand, Bolivia, Bangladesh and Bulgaria presented them to Don Felipe.
Since then, a good number of new ambassadors have been arriving in our country, and they are already carrying out their duties after presenting their Copies of Letters of Credence to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but they have to wait until they can present their Credentials to the head of state to be fully accredited in Spain.
For the time being, six or seven ambassadors who arrived in Spain more recently, including those of Azerbaijan, Ramiz Hasanov; Pakistan, Shujaat Ali Rathore; Turkey, Burak Akçapar; Mozambique, Maria Manuela dos Santos; and Nigeria, Demola Seriki, are expected to present their Letters of Credence to the monarch at the ceremony on 4 October, which will take place as is traditional at the Royal Palace.
The sources consulted indicated that it is possible that there will be another ceremony for the presentation of Letters of Credence before 12 October, so that all the ambassadors already in Spain could attend the National Day ceremonies, presided over by the King, as they are already fully accredited.
