Indra and Oro Navigacija have made Lithuania one of the first countries in the world that can calculate in advance the position of each aircraft throughout its route and offer its best route after implementing Indra’s management system to build a safe and efficient digital sky.
With this action, Lithuania is ahead of the European Union’s objective to implement the digital sky, according to Europa Press.
It has achieved this by implementing the ITEC air traffic management system developed by seven European navigation providers at the en route control centre in Vilnius and integrating it into the lower space and tower management.
Currently, the United Kingdom and Germany have already implemented this solution, while Spain, through Enaire, Poland, the Netherlands and Norway are making good progress in this process.
This solution makes it possible to calculate in advance the exact position of each aircraft in all phases of flight and to anticipate conflicts, as well as to organise airspace more flexibly.
