The Pabellón Caixabank de Actividades Culturales at the Madrid Book Fair is hosting the Portuguese ambassador, João Mira-Gomes, this afternoon at 6 p.m., who will present the 19th edition of Cultura Portugal, which this year has the slogan Time for culture.
The presentation will take place as part of the colloquium What’s in a Name? Words cannot fix anything beyond the ephemerality of things, a meeting with the participation of the Portuguese writer and winner of the XXX Queen Sofia Prize for Ibero-American Poetry, Ana Luísa Amaral (in the photo), as well as the poet and director of the Cervantes Institute, Luis García Montero, in collaboration with the publishers Sexto Piso and Olifante.
Organised by the Portuguese Embassy and with the collaboration of various public and private institutions, these activities help to disseminate the richness and diversity of Portugal. On this occasion, they are framed in various areas, including music, literature, cinema, theatre and the plastic arts, among others, establishing a “thread” that connects both countries, which are close both geographically and culturally. An initiative that is reaffirmed and strengthened in our country, consolidating the importance and virtues of culture in this difficult period in many respects.
