EUNIC-Spain, together with the Representation of the European Commission in Spain, is organising the 6th European Week of Languages with cultural events on European languages and cultures, with the aim of bringing the cultures of the EU countries closer together and commemorating the European Day of Languages, which is celebrated internationally on 26 September.
In 2001, the Council of Europe declared this date as the European Day of Languages, to promote language learning and linguistic diversity as a key tool for intercultural understanding and the preservation of our cultural heritage. Since then, around this day, the cultural institutes members of EUNIC Spain and the European Commission celebrate the European Week of Languages. Tomorrow Monday at 12 noon, the press conference to present the Week will take place in the Europa Room of the European Commission Representation in Spain, with the participation of Antonia Blau, Director of the Goethe Institute in Madrid and rotating President of EUNIC Spain, and Luis González, translator at the European Commission Representation in Spain, who will present the events. Other representatives of EUNIC, such as the director of the Italian Institute of Culture in Madrid, Marialuisa Pappalardo, and the collaborators in the organisation of the various activities will also be present. This year’s programme is extremely varied and attractive. You can consult it in its entirety at this link.
