The Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates in Spain (UAE), Majid Al Suwaidi, encouraged companies from Extremadura, during a visit to the region on Tuesday, to invest in his country.
Al Suwaidi held a meeting with the President of Extremadura, Guillermo Fernández Vara, and met with the regional minister of Economy, Science and Digital Agenda, Rafael España Santamaría. He also held meetings with representatives of the most important companies and investment authorities in the region.
According to a UAE Embassy’s statement, these meetings highlighted “the strongest opportunities for strengthening cooperation between the authorities of the region and the UAE in the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) sectors”.
The ambassador stressed to his interlocutors, the statement says, the importance of taking advantage of the available capacities and experiences and best practices in Extremadura and the UAE in the different areas of development and growth “in order to create appropriate opportunities to establish common programmes and projects that are of mutual benefit”.
Al Suwaidi also referred to the importance of establishing channels for direct dialogue between companies in the UAE and Extremadura, with the aim of activating economic initiatives that lead to joint projects. According to the diplomatic representative, this will encourage private sector and economic cooperation in order to develop commercial activity between both parties.
The ambassador’s visit concluded with a business day organised in cooperation with Extremadura Avante in order to raise awareness of the powerful sectors and opportunities available in the UAE for the most important companies in the region of Extremadura.
Al Suwaidi also presented the facilities and advantages offered by his country, which Spanish companies wishing to make inroads into the UAE market can benefit from.
The ambassador also took advantage to encourage companies from Extremadura to attend and participate in the Spanish pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, which will open next October.
