The Diplomat
The Council of Ministers yesterday appointed José Luis Lozano García to the post of Ambassador of Spain to North Macedonia, as The Diplomat had advanced.
José Luis Lozano, whose name was among the 27 ambassadors whose request for the approval was authorized by the Government at the beginning of June (which allowed unblocking a replacement of ambassadors that had been paralyzed since November last year), was born in Madrid in 1963, holds a degree in Law from the UCM (1986) and a diploma in Human Rights from the René Cassin Institute in Strasbourg (1988) and entered the diplomatic career in 1991. He currently held the post of Deputy Director General for External and Commercial Relations of the EU.
Lozano was posted to the Spanish Representation to the OSCE in Vienna (1986-1992) and held the second Spanish post in Norway (2002-2005). He was also deputy representative of Spain to the EU Political and Security Committee (PSC) and deputy permanent representative of Spain to the WEU (Western European Union) and held the post of political counselor at the Spanish Embassy in Morocco.
In the Central Services he held the position of Deputy Director of the Cabinet of the Minister and, on the occasion of the Spanish Presidency of the OSCE (Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe), he held the position of Advisor for Multilateral Affairs for the OSCE and the Council of Europe. He was also assigned to the Subdirectorate General for International Disarmament Affairs.
In addition, the Council of Ministers yesterday appointed Salvador Rueda to the post of Director General for Integration and Coordination of General Affairs of the European Union. Born in Madrid on March 27, 1972 and member of the Diplomatic Career since 2001, he has been Head of Service in the Cabinet of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Counselor in charge of European Affairs at the Spanish Embassy in Berlin.
In the Secretariat of State for the European Union he held the positions of Head of European Institutional Relations and Head of the Technical Cabinet of the General Secretariat for the European Union, coinciding with the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2010. He then served abroad as coordinator (Antici) in the Permanent Representation of Spain to the European Union and in the Second Head of the Spanish Embassy in Indonesia, East Timor and the Organization of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). He also held, successively, the Sub-Directorate General for Justice and Home Affairs and the Sub-Directorate General for Institutional Affairs in the Secretariat of State for the European Union.
