The Diplomat
Egypt’s new ambassador to Spain, Youssef Diaeldin Mekkawy, will shortly take up his post in Madrid to fill the vacancy recently left by Omar Selim, after three and a half years in our country.
Youssef Mekkawy was currently Director General of the Foreign Service in Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and previously served as his country’s Ambassador to Slovenia.
After his arrival in Madrid, the new ambassador will hand in his Style Copies at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and will later present his Letters of Credence to His Majesty the King.
One of Youssef Mekkawy’s tasks will be to prepare the visit of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, to Egypt, which was to take place in the last week of August, but had to be postponed due to the crisis in Afghanistan, after the Taliban seized power.
