A consortium formed 70% by Minsait, an Indra group company, and 30% by the cloud and process automation specialist Westpole, has been awarded a contract valued at 180 million euros to qualify the central systems of the European Home Affairs and Justice, reports Europa Press.

The European Agency for the Operational Management of Large-Scale IT Systems in the Area of Freedom, Security and Justice (eu-LISA) has selected the Spanish company and its partner to provide software testing and validation services for eu-LISA’s core Justice and Home Affairs applications and systems for six years.

According to a statement issued by the company, Minsait’s work will ensure “the quality and efficiency” of the European agency’s large-scale IT systems and will be particularly focused on the implementation of the Smart Borders Programme.

This programme comprises a series of measures aimed at modernising border management and the Schengen Area, as well as facilitating data sharing between countries.

Among others, Minsait’s task will be to verify the proper functioning of the border control systems it operates, as well as those that eu-Lisa is developing.

The latter include, for example, ETIAS, or SEIAV in Spanish, the European Travel Information and Authorisation System, which includes a certificate to be applied for by citizens of EU countries currently exempt from visa requirements to visit the Schengen Area and which is expected to be launched.

As consortium leader, Minsait will be responsible for the overall management of the programme and testing activities at its operational centres, while Westpole will provide consultancy services and testing expertise.
