The Diplomat
The Embassy of Italy in Madrid participated in the Fuorisalone which opened yesterday, as part of the Interni Creative Connections exhibition, with its own installation located in the evocative setting of the courtyard of honour of the University of Milan.
It consists of three cages, evocative of the long period of confinement, inside which are exhibited the seven prototypes of the winning projects of a design competition that the Embassy, together with Interni magazine and a group of Spanish partners (the Colegio Oficial de Arquitectos de Madrid – COAM, the Asociación de Diseñadores de Madrid – DIMAD and the Asociación de Diseño Industrial y Promoción de las Artes y el Diseño de Barcelona – ADI-FAD), has promoted with the involvement of numerous young Spaniards and important Italian companies.
“The participation of the Italian Embassy in Madrid takes place in the context of a fruitful collaboration with the magazine Interni, which began a few years ago, and which has made it possible to weave a network of contacts between design schools, architecture centres, designers, mostly young people, in Spain and companies and centres of excellence in the field of design in Italy”, said Ambassador Riccardo Guariglia, through a video message, during the presentation press conference.
The ambassador also pointed out that “in the Spanish context, which undoubtedly looks to Italy as a point of reference but which at the same time knows how to express, in turn, increasingly refined and original products, we wanted to decline the integrated promotion from an innovative perspective, with a series of activities that could strengthen the bridges between Italy and Spain and, if necessary, create new ones”.
