The Diplomat
The new ambassadors of Norway and Luxembourg to Spain presented on Wednesday their Copies of Letters of Credence at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, before the Ambassadors’ Introducer, María Sebastián de Erice.
Nils Haugstveit takes over the Norwegian Embassy, which has been headed for a year by Odd Mølster, as Chargé d’Affaires, after the departure of the previous ambassador, Helge Skaara, due to retirement.
The Norwegian Government had entrusted Haugstveit with a number of tasks and until his arrival, scheduled for this summer, it decided to send Odd Mølster to Madrid to head the diplomatic representation.
Nils Haugstveit, 63, has been a diplomat since 1991 and was previously ambassador to Buenos Aires from 2007 to 2012. That same year he was appointed ambassador to Afghanistan, where he remained until 2014. In recent years he has held various positions in the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
For his part, Christian Biever has taken over the Embassy of Luxembourg, replacing Michéle Pranchére-Tomassini, who was appointed ambassador of her country to Italy.
Christian Biever was until now Director General for Consular, Legal and Cultural Affairs of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and was previously Ambassador to the Holy See, with residence in Luxembourg, as well as Ambassador to Greece.
He was also, for a number of years, President of the European Institute of Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe.
