The US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, held a new telephone conversation yesterday with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, to discuss the situation in Afghanistan and to thank Spain for its support for the evacuation operation in Kabul.
Blinken reported the conversation on his Twitter account, in which he also reported similar contacts with his colleagues from Germany, Heiko Maas, and Italy, Luigi Di Maio.
For his part, Albares indicated on the same social network that he had spoken with Blinken about the situation in Afghanistan and how Spain and the United States can work together with the rest of their partners and allies.
Yesterday, the US Embassy in Madrid reported that three more flights landed in Rota with a total of 334 evacuees from Afghanistan on board and another flight left last night for the United States with 250 passengers.
