On 22 September the exhibition Japan. A story of love and war, a journey to discover the elegant and refined atmosphere of classical Japan, arrives on the 1st floor of CentroCentro in Madrid, which will be on display until 30 January 2022.

In addition to showing works by some of the most renowned Japanese artists of the period, such as Hiroshige, Utamaro, Hokusai and Kuniyoshi, the exhibition offers an overview of 19th century Japanese life through the display of samurai armour, kimonos, fans and photographs. The exhibition, divided into ten sections and comprising a selection of more than 200 works, meanders through the persuasive feminine world of the geisha, the legend of the faithful samurai warriors, without leaving behind the history of the birth of ukiyo-e and the famous shunga prints, rich in eroticism. The world of culture is immortalised in portraits of actors and scenes from the Nō and Kabuki theatres, and the world of nature is idealised in paintings of flowers, birds and landscapes.
