On Sunday 22 August, the Iberoamérica Viva festival will be held for the first time. The aim of the festival is to celebrate, through the various disciplines represented in the Ibero-American space, the richness, diversity and success stories of cultural cooperation in Ibero-America.
On the 30th anniversary of the Ibero-American Summits of Heads of State and Government, and with the slogan Celebrate what unites us, artists in training, emerging and consolidated, will gather together with cultural managers on the stage of the Uruguayan National Auditorium Adela Reta (SODRE) to offer a unique and high-level show.
The event will feature a performance by the SODRE Youth Orchestra and is expected to be attended by the highest political and cultural authorities of Uruguay, as well as the Ibero-American Secretary General, Rebeca Grynspan (virtually). In charge of conducting the Youth Orchestra and coordinating the various disciplines will be Maestro Ariel Britos, president of the IberOrquestas Juveniles Programme, together with artists such as the percussionist Tatita Márquez, the singer Maia Castro, the dance platform Clo and the circus groups Tranzat, El Picadero and Entropía. In addition, there will be testimonies by the Ibero-American Ambassadors of Culture Carlinhos Brown (to be confirmed) and María Marte (Dominican Republic), together with protagonists and managers of Ibero-American cultural cooperation in Uruguay.
Promoted by the Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB) and developed by the countries and their people, Ibero-American Cooperation promotes culture as a key factor for well-being, cohesion and social inclusion; the construction of citizenship and the culture of peace, and the feeling of self-esteem and collective identity of peoples. It also contributes to productive development, competitiveness and the creation of quality employment. Iberoamérica Viva will celebrate the stories of success and personal effort behind each project and cultural exchange, which not only combine the new with the established, but also the local with the national and regional.
The event will also be streamed on the SEGIB and SODRE YouTube channels.
