Gerd Schulte-Hillen, long-time director of the magazine publisher Gruner + Jahr and co-founder of the German-Spanish Forum, died on Wednesday at the age of 80.
Schulte-Hillen, considered one of the most important personalities in the German publishing world, directed the magazine publishing house, which publishes “Stern”, “GEO” and “Brigitte”, among others, for some 20 years, and which also has a 25.25% stake in the Spiegel publishing house.
A great friend of Spain, in 2002, Gerd Schulte-Hillen was one of the promoters of the German-Spanish Forum, of which he was the first co-chairman, and from which he strove to increase relations between the two countries in all areas.
