The Spanish Government yesterday congratulated the new Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, the Labour Party’s Philip J. Pierre, who took office on Thursday after winning the general elections held on 26 July.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Spanish government wishes Philip J. Pierre every success and congratulates the people of Saint Lucia “for the exemplary and peaceful conduct of these elections in a complex context marked by the health crisis caused by COVID-19”.

“The Government of Spain expresses its willingness to continue to deepen and strengthen the ties that unite our two countries in a spirit of solidarity that, in this new phase, will allow us to face the shared challenges and challenges for the benefit of the welfare and prosperity of our peoples,” the statement said.
