The IRC presents ‘Sweet Dreams, Dear Children’, by Radu Pavel Gheo

July 19, 2021
in Leisure

Author: Radu Pavel Gheo.

The Instituto Cultural Rumano of Madrid and Tres Hermanas Ediciones are organising the presentation of the book Dulces sueños, queridos niños (Noapte bună, copii!), by Radu Pavel Gheo, in Santander and Madrid.

The presentation in the Cantabrian capital will take place this evening at 19:00 at the GIL bookshop in Santander, as part of the 7th Independent Publishers Fair, Fiercely Independent 2021. Both the Romanian writer and the translator of the book, Marian Ochoa de Eribe, will be present. Tomorrow at 19.30, the book presentation will be held in Madrid, at the Rafael Alberti Bookshop. The event will take place in person (limited capacity) and will be broadcast live on the bookshop’s website. Radu Pavel Gheo will participate in a talk moderated by Carmen Posadas. Winner of several prizes, Dulces sueños, queridos niños is the Romanian writer’s first novel translated into Spanish. It is about childhood in Romania under the communist regime where children’s imaginations are clouded by their obsession with an idealised Western world. As this obsession grows, the protagonists of the novel risk their lives by attempting to cross the border.
