Seven British fugitives have been arrested in the provinces of Malaga and Alicante in the space of just three weeks as a result of joint operations between the British National Crime Agency (NCA) and the Spanish National Police.

As reported by the UK National Crime Agency in a press release issued by the British Embassy in Madrid, the fugitives, all men, are wanted in the UK for various unrelated offences, including supplying Class A and B drugs, supplying firearms, causing wounding with intent and conspiracy to rob.

The flurry of arrests were executed by the Spanish National Police with support from the NCA’s international liaison officer network, Interpol Manchester and UK police partners. “Seven arrests in just three weeks is the result of some very hard work by the Agency with our Spanish partners – who have allocated critical resources and operated quickly to secure these arrests”, said Dave Hucker, head of European Operations at the NCA. The suspects remain in custody pending extradition proceedings.

Those arrested are a 45-year-old man arrested in Estepona for allegedly supplying 40 kilos of cocaine, a 27-year-old man wanted by Greater Manchester Police and arrested in Marbella on suspicion of intentionally causing injury, a British national wanted by West Midlands Police and arrested in Fuengirola on suspicion of supplying cocaine and firearms, two brothers aged 37 and 35 wanted for alleged cocaine trafficking and arrested in Alicante, a 36-year-old man wanted by Merseyside police and arrested in Estepona allegedly for supplying firearms and class A and B drugs and a 26-year-old man wanted by Greater Manchester police and arrested in Fuengirola in connection with a machete fight.
