Pakistan’s new Ambassador to Spain, Shujaat Ali Rathore, presented the Style Copies of his Letters of Credence to the Ambassadors’ introducer, Caridad Batalla, at a ceremony held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday.

Shujaat Ali Rathore replaces Khayyam Akbar, who retired after three years at the head of Pakistan’s diplomatic representation in Madrid.

Until his appointment, Shujaat Ali Rathore was Ambassador to the Netherlands.

The new ambassador graduated in Marine Science from the University of Karachi in 1992 and subsequently joined the Foreign Service. Since then, he has held, among others, the positions of Middle East Desk Officer, Staff Officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Director General of Headquarters, Finance and Special Programmes and Director General of the Foreign Office.

In addition, Shujaat Ali Rathore has served as Consul General in Birmingham and has been posted at the Pakistan Embassies in Damascus, Washington, Jakarta and Beijing, where he was Deputy Head of Mission.
