The secretary general of Vox, Javier Ortega Smith, yesterday warned the leaders of the “nest of crime and pirates” in Gibraltar that they will not succeed in intimidating him with the arrest warrant for allegedly taking one of the concrete blocks with which, according to him, they were trying to complicate the work of Spanish fishermen.
According to Europa Press, Ortega Smith assured that he will return to take one of the blocks “the first chance he gets”.
“El Peñón lives off crime”, he denounced at the inauguration of the party’s headquarters in Valencia, where he promised that he would try to plant a Spanish flag in the British colony to “show that the fraudulent and criminal business is going to end”.
Ortega Smith responded to reporters, when asked about a claim that he could face up to ten years in prison if he sets foot in Gibraltar again, in compliance with an arrest warrant issued in 2014 for the theft of the block that rests in the national headquarters of Vox and of which he himself has shared a photograph this week.
Ortega Smith said that “the Campo de Gibraltar is ruined by drug trafficking, money laundering and by those who continue to use the colony as a nest of crime and pirates”. All this, in his opinion, with the permissiveness of the different governments of Spain, from those of the PP to the current one of “Pedro, ‘el mentiras’ and all his collection of traitors”.
On the other hand, he announced that he will tell the Gibraltarian authorities as soon as he can that Spanish fishermen “have the right to fish in the Bay of Algeciras” and that “the Rock should be decolonised and handed over to Spain as declared by the UN”, stressing that it is “the last colony in Europe”.
“If they think they are going to intimidate us because they accuse me of a crime, they are not going to succeed,” he said. He added: “Stealing in Spanish waters is not theft; it is cleaning up the rubbish that has been dumped”.
Along these lines, the Vox leader predicted that “the pirates will sooner or later abandon this colony, as they have done in so many other colonised parts of the world”. He also pointed out that, if his party were to govern, it would give a boost to the Gibraltar area, would force the UK to comply with international resolutions and would do “the impossible” for Spain to recover its sovereignty, both through diplomacy and by “cutting off all the traffic that comes from crime”.
