Colour as form and Toledo sees are the two exhibitions with which Casa de México pays tribute to the fundamental artist of Mexican culture, Fernando Toledo (pictured), until the 19th of September.
The first exhibition brings together fifteen paintings and a tapestry by the Mexican artist. Three self-portraits in different formats and techniques stand out, as well as a tapestry from 1975. Most of the works on display here are from the artist’s early period, in which his use of large areas of colour stands out. Five pieces from the 1990s and 2000s are also on display. The aim is to give the visitor a broad overview of Francisco Toledo’s career. The genre of the self-portrait, one of the artist’s favourite genres in his career, is represented by three works in different formats and techniques.
