On the occasion of the Bicentenary of the Independence of Peru, Casa América presents this evening at 7pm online on its YouTube channel, a conversation on the Flavours of Peru in the Bicentenary.
This commemoration is a propitious occasion to address one of the most exciting chapters in the millenary history of the Andean country: the development of its famous cuisine, based on a copious abundance of native products from its three natural regions (coast, highlands and Amazon jungle), many of them domesticated since time immemorial, and an enriching and incessant process of crossbreeding. Peruvian cuisine is also increasingly popular in Spain, which invites us to reflect on its characteristics and potential. The event will be presented by Rebeca Guinea, Director of Programming, and Claudio de la Puente, Peru’s Ambassador to Spain. Also present will be chefs Jhosef Arias, María Elba Ortiz de Zevallos, Juan Carlos Perret and Alejandra Ormeño. Alonso Ruiz Rosas, cultural attaché of the Peruvian Embassy, will moderate the event.
