The Festival Renacen, Ayres del Prado in Toledo has arrived

This evening at 8 p.m., the Fundación Carlos de Amberes will host the opening concert of the second edition of the Festival Renacen, Ayres del Prado. Toledo in the music of the 16th-17th centuries, which will be given by Enrique Pastor Morales (vihuela, viola da gamba and baroque guitar) and María José Pire (soprano).

This meeting will cover Renaissance and Baroque music by authors such as Diego Pisador (1509-1557), Francisco Guerrero (1528-1599) and Antoine Boesset (1586-1643). The city of Toledo, the Tagus River and the different views of poets, musicians and painters will be at the centre of the event. As the artists state, “during the Renaissance, artists depicted their love stories in pastoral settings, in nature, far from the city. It is not surprising that many of the stories took place on the banks of rivers, which were the backbone of city life. In this sense, the Tagus River achieved great fame, becoming the setting for numerous human tones and even airs de cour performed at the French court, as we see in the work of Étienne Moulinié”. More information on the Foundation’s website.
