Spain was the country that increased its wine exports the most in the first quarter of 2021, although it did so at a lower average price compared to the rest, reveals a report by the Spanish Wine Market Observatory (OEMV) made public yesterday.
According to the report, Spain increased its wine exports by 86 million liters. In contrast, France was the country that increased its turnover the most (+178 million euros), after being the one that recorded the most losses a difficult 2020. The report shows a sharp drop for Italy, Australia and New Zealand and good data for Portugal.
As in the first quarter, Spain overtook Italy as the world’s leading wine supplier in the year-on-year (12 months) to March, although both are still far behind France in value, a country that is softening its fall after a great March 2021.
