The Government has created the Honorary Consular Office in Klaipeda, in the Republic of Lithuania, with jurisdiction over the provinces of Klaipeda, Telsiai, Siauliai and Taurage, according to an order of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs published yesterday in the Official State Gazette (BOE).
The head of the Spanish Honorary Consular Office in Klaipeda will have the status of honorary consul.
The creation of an Honorary Consular Office in this city will facilitate the attention of urgent cases of consular protection and assistance and will support the Consular Section of the Spanish Embassy in Vilnius.
Klaipeda is the third most important city in Lithuania not only because of its size in terms of population, but also because of its developed tourism sector and the importance of its port.
