Until 23 July, the Fundación Carlos de Amberes, the Berg Institute and the Belgian Embassy in Spain present the exhibition Instant Light, by the Belgian artist Benoît de Innis; an exceptional opportunity to admire more than a hundred drawings that reflect the artist’s creative activity during his confinement.

After completing his painting studies at Sint-Lucas de Grand, Benoît de Innis began publishing more than 30 covers for the legendary magazine The New Yorker at a very young age. Subsequently, he published many architectural pieces in collaboration with internationally renowned Belgian, French, English and Swiss architects. At the Carlos Amberes Foundation he exhibits a “Logbook” entitled Instant Light, which he produced during the first three months of his confinement, in which he depicts the human condition of a man isolated in a closed environment. Alongside this work are his paintings The Daughters of the Stars, inspired by the music of Eric Satie. In other paintings and drawings he expresses his love for olive trees and olive harvesting. Another new series also on show in Madrid is entitled At Table with God. Benoît van Innis sees and observes the elements of life and translates them with simplicity, creating timeless images.
