Activists Serge and Beate Klarsfeld present their ‘Memoirs’
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

On 7 July at 7 p.m. in the Caja de Música auditorium of Centro Centro (Plaza de Cibeles, 1), activists Serge and Beate Klarsfeld will present their Memoirs, published by the Berg Institute, in which they recount a life full of complex searches and journeys around the world to be, as they like to define themselves, “defenders of persecuted Jewish souls”.

At the event, organised by the Berg Institute and the Centro Sefarad-Israel, they will talk about the process of capturing former Nazi leaders such as Klaus Barbie and Kurt Lischka, former head of the Gestapo in Paris. Serge, a French Jew who lost his father murdered in Auschwitz, and Beate, a German Berliner whose parents voted for Hitler, crossed paths at the end of World War II in 1960. Since then, both have devoted much of their time to a common goal: to follow the trail of some of the worst Nazi criminals hidden in the aftermath of the Second World War. Interested members of the public can attend by confirming in advance via the Centro Sefarad-Israel website. It can also be followed online, via this link.
