The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already provided at least the first dose of the vaccine against COVID-19 to 80% of its personnel posted in the representations of Spain abroad and plans further shipments in the coming weeks in order to vaccinate all of them.

According to official sources of the Ministry, at least 80% of the personnel have received at least the first dose in the 128 representations of Spain abroad (118 Embassies). This percentage is higher than the Spanish average. A good percentage of these vaccinations have taken place in 80 countries with which Spain had reached an agreement in this regard. At present, 90% of the personnel have received at least one dose in 25 countries and 80% or more in 38 countries.

In addition, the Foreign Ministry has made exceptional shipments to a dozen countries where there are supply problems, such as Thailand and Haiti, in order to vaccinate all foreign personnel (both from the Ministry and other departments), including local workers, and plans further shipments of Janssen vaccine (single-dose) to countries where vaccination of foreign personnel is not “feasible” at this time. Two of these shipments will arrive in the next week and the other three in the following weeks.

The union representation of CSIF in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has asked the Undersecretary of the Department, Celsa Nuño, to provide the list of the 80 countries with which, according to the Minister Arancha González Laya, there is a reciprocity agreement for vaccination against COVID-19.
