The Second Vice-President and Minister of Economy, Nadia Calviño; the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Arancha González Laya; the Secretary of the US Department of Health and Human Rights, Xavier Becerra; and the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy, Josep Borrell, will participate in the Spain-United States Forum, which this year reaches its 25th edition.

The Forum, which will have a hybrid format (face-to-face and digital), will take place on 7 and 8 July, and beforehand, on 6 July, a press conference will be given by Juan LLado, President of the Spain-United States Council Foundation, and Joaquín Castro, Democratic Congressman for the State of Texas and Honorary President of the United States-Spain Council.

The Forum is organised annually, alternately in Spain and the United States, by the Spain-US Council Foundation and its North American counterpart, the United States-Spain Council, but the pandemic situation meant that it could not take place last year. The last on-site edition took place in November 2019 in San Antonio (Texas) and it is planned that in 2022, Bilbao will host the 26th edition.

In this XXV edition, as usual, the participation of public and private sector leaders from both countries is planned, who will be able to discuss current issues of common interest in the economic, technological, political and cultural spheres.

This year’s guest speakers will focus on two main themes: “The economy after Covid-19: towards a more resilient, inclusive and sustainable recovery” and “Revitalising transatlantic relations: repairing alliances and sustaining multilateralism”.

In addition to the aforementioned personalities, other senior US officials are also expected to participate, such as Derek Chollet, diplomatic advisor to the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, and Loyce Pace, Director of the Office of Global Affairs of the Department of Health.
