Casa Árabe shows how to benefit from Tunisia’s economic potential
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Tomorrow Tuesday at 10 a.m., Casa Árabe is organising, through the Zoom platform, a multi-sector round table discussion entitled How to benefit from Tunisia’s economic potential. To take part, registration is required at this link. The event will be held in Spanish and English.

This online conference is organised for companies on Tunisia’s potential in different sectors of interest, in particular agri-food and renewable energies. Despite complicated years of political and economic transition, which have been compounded by the impact of covid and the global economic crisis, Tunisia is a country with good prospects for political stability and incipient economic growth, which it would be important to consolidate. Spain is currently the country’s fourth largest European supplier (the EU as a whole accounts for 52 per cent of Tunisian imports), after Italy, France and Germany, and the seventh largest overall, with a share of 4.11 per cent (MAUC country file, 11/04/21), as well as the fourth largest customer, also with a 4.0 per cent share of Tunisian exports, after France, Italy and Germany. While trade relations could still have a lot of room for growth, investments could also show more positive results in both directions. With the latest available data for 2018, Spain was the 10th largest investor country in terms of flow, representing only 1.1% of total FDI in the country (excluding energy), although in terms of stock it ranks fourth. The conference will be closed by the Spanish Ambassador to Tunisia, Guillermo Ardizone García, and inaugurated by the Director General of Public Economy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, Luis Óscar Moreno García-Cano, together with the Director General of FIPA, Abdelbasset Ghanmi, and the Tunisian Ambassador to Spain, Fatma Omrani Chargui.
