To inaugurate the special programme to mark the thirty-fifth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Israel and Spain, the Centro Sefarad-Israel, in collaboration with Amical Mauthaussen, the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation and the Biblioteca Musical Víctor Espinós of the Madrid City Council, is organising a concert on the figure of Pau Casals (in the photo) on Tuesday 22 June at 8 p.m. in the Auditorium of the Centro Condeduque.
The compositions to be performed in this recital are mostly the work of the composer Raquel Quiaro, who in A Casals takes an avant-garde approach to the characteristic cello and piano duet so often performed by the maestro Casals in his concerts, where the essential motivation was the song of peace and human rights, where the beauty of art was always offered as an extraordinary alternative for existence. The recital will be performed by the Apellániz duo composed of David Apellániz on cello and Carlos Apellániz on piano. It will also feature explanations by the composer herself, Raquel Quiaro. Seating is limited, so it is essential to book a place by filling in the form on this link. Each form will be used to reserve two places. If you will be attending without an accompanying person, please write to centro@sefarad-israel.es.
