The Diplomat
The European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Policy, Josep Borrell, plans to appoint Spain’s current ambassador to Kenya, Javier García de Viedma, as the new EU delegate to Paraguay, The Diplomat has learned from EU sources.
García de Viedma is expected to leave his post in Nairobi in the coming months, once the Kenyan authorities give the go-ahead to his replacement, Cristina Díaz.
The future EU ambassador to Asunción has been a diplomat since 1991, and throughout his career has been, among other things, deputy director general of the United Nations, ‘number two’ at the embassy in Tel Aviv and consul general in Lima.
