The Diplomat

Diplomat and historian Javier Rubio García-Mina has died at the age of 97. He was consul in several countries and consul general in Paris before becoming Spanish ambassador to Hungary in the 1980s.

A graduate in economics and aeronautical engineering, he later entered the diplomatic career, but his passion was history, especially his studies on the exile of the Spanish Civil War, 19th century Spain and the Cuban disaster.

In 2018, he presented at the Diplomatic School his book “Juan Prim. His years as a ruler. His assassination. A necessary review”, an extensive 800-page work on the circumstances surrounding the general’s assassination.
