The Basque Government yesterday chaired the Interterritorial Council for Internationalisation (CII), a forum for debate and exchange of information in which representatives of the autonomous communities, CEOE, the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, the State Secretary for Trade and ICEX participate with the aim of strengthening collaboration in the promotion of the internationalisation of Spanish companies and the attraction of investment to Spain.
The meeting was opened by the Basque Government’s Minister of Economic Development, Sustainability and Environment, Arantxa Tapia, together with the CEO of ICEX Spain Export and Investment, María Peña, and the Director General of the Basque Trade & Investment (BTI), Ainhoa Ondarzábal.
According to a note from ICEX, on this occasion, the need to adapt to new trends within the framework of uncertainty that we are still experiencing was discussed. To this end, Spanish companies must urgently incorporate digitalisation and sustainability into their strategies, accepting this paradigm shift as a challenge and, above all, as an opportunity.
The meeting focused mainly on the importance of the role of women in the economy and in internationalisation, a topic that was discussed in more depth during the session of the Foreign Promotion Committee (FPC).
The Committee for the Attraction of Foreign Investment (CAI) to Spain also took place, with the aim of sharing the policies and actions being carried out by each organisation and continuing the permanent collaboration, which is now more important than ever.
