The Diplomat
The spokeswoman for the Canary Islands Coalition (CC) in Congress, Ana Oramas, revealed yesterday in the plenary session of Congress that she had to hang up the phone on the Foreign Affairs Minister, Arancha González Laya, after she insulted her, reports Europa Press.
During her intervention in a motion on foreign policy on Morocco, Oramas attacked the head of Spanish diplomacy, whom she described as “the worst minister”, and the management she has carried out since she took over the ministry. “Her time is over,” she said.
The CC representative said that this has been “the longest and most disastrous year in the history of the country in terms of foreign policy”, as evidenced, in her opinion, by the Minister’s actions in the management of the migration crisis that Spain has suffered in recent months, particularly in the Canary Islands.
The Canary Islands MP went on to say that “the only time” González Laya called her mobile phone was to “insult her” because she was “offended” by something she had said a few days earlier.
“The only time she called me was for that”, insisted Oramas, adding that when she asked the minister for an explanation, she replied: “You are nobody to explain anything”. “It was the first time I have ever hung up the phone on a minister, and I say it here. Let her eat it, the worst minister”, she said.
